Red fort or Lal Qila is a famous tourist place in Delhi,India. Its beautiful architecture and the historical significance that it carries attracts many visitors everyday.
  • Mughal emperor shah jahan built this massive fort when he transferred the capital from Agra to Delhi. The construction of this monument began in the month of Muharran on 13 may, 1638. It took ten years to complete the construction in 1648.

  • The main architects of this monument were Ustad Ahmad and Ustad Hamid. During the times of Mughal, it was called Qila-i-Mubarak (the blessed fort).
  • The fort is located beside the river Yamuna. A massive wall was built around the fort to protect it from the external attacks. The wall is build of red sand stone. That is why the fort is called red fort. The fort have two entrances- Lahore gate and Delhi gate. The shape of this fort is octagon and it covers 256 acres of land.
  • Inside the fort there are many beautiful architectures and buildings - Diwan-e-aam (the hall of public audience ), Diwan-e-khas (the hall of private audience ), rang mahal (the house of emperors wives), moti masjid, peacock throne. The famous Kohinoor diamond was a part of the peacock throne.
  • Every year on 15 August (on India's independence day), prime minister of India gives speech to the nation from the lal qila.
  • In 2007, it was declared UNESCO world heritage site.   

Biography of N. R. Narayan Murthy: co founder of Infosys

Narayan Murthy is an Indian businessman. He is famous as a cofounder of India's one of the biggest IT company Infosys.
  • He was born on 20 August, 1946 in Mysore,Karnataka. His full name is Nagavara Ramaroa Narayana Murthy.

  • He was born in a middle class family to Sri R H Kulkarni and Vimala Kulkarni. He married to Sudha Murthy.
  • Sudha Murthy is an author and social worker. They have a son Rohan and a daughter Akshata.
  • He pursed his BE degree in electrical engineering from the university of Mysore. Later he completed his master's degree from IIT kanpur in 1969.
  • He started his career at IIM ahmedabad. There he worked on the time sharing computer system and designed a basic interpreter for ECIL.
  • In the beginning, he started a company sofronics. But he was not successful at that time. He joined Patni computer systems in pune.
  • In 1981,he borrowed Rs. 10,000 from his wife and started Infosys with 6 other partners. Under his leadership, Infosys became a large IT company of India. Infosys was the first Indian IT company which was listed on NASDAQ.
  • He remained CEO of Infosys from 1981-2002. He served as the chairman of the board from the 2002-2011. He took retirement in 2011. But in 2013, he returned to Infosys as executive chairman and additional director.
  • He has received many awards such as - Padma vibhushan (2008), Padma shri (2000),indo-French forum medal (2003). In 2003, he was named Asia's businessman of the year by fortune magazine. 

Interesting facts and biography of C. V. Raman

C. V. Raman was a famous Indian scientist. He is famous for his discovery of raman effect and raman scattering.
  • He was born on 7 November, 1888 in tiruchirappalli, Chennai. His full name was Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman.

  • His father was Chandrasekhar Iyer and his mother was Parvathi Ammal. His father was a lecturer of mathematics and physics. C. V. Raman married to Lokasundar Ammal on 6 may,1907. They had two sons.
  • He studied at St. Aloysius Anglo Indian high school. He did his B. A. degree in physics from the presidency college of Madras. He completed his M. A degree in 1907. He was a meritorious student.
  • At first he took a government job and later switched to the university of Calcutta as a professor of physics. Beside professorship, he was also doing research at Indian association for the cultivation of science, Calcutta. During this time he discovered raman scattering and raman effect with the help of K. S. Krishnan. For these discovery he won Nobel prize in 1930.
  • He became the assistant director of IISc, Bangalore in 1934. His main area of research was optics. He carried out his research and found many interesting things in optics.
  • After the independence of India, he was selected as the first national professor of India.
  • He founded the raman research Institute in Bangalore in 1943. He worked there till his death.
  • He won many prestigious awards. Such as- Nobel pride (1930), bharat ratna (1954), Lenin peace prize (1957). He was selected as a member of royal society in 1924.
  • He was died on 21 November, 1970. To remember the great discovery of raman effect, every year on 28 February national science day is celebrated in India.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui is an Indian actor. His acting in the films Kahaani and Gangs of Wasseypur earned him a great respect in the bollywood film industry.
  • He was born on 19 may, 1974 in a small town of Muzaffarnagar,Uttar Pradesh.

  • He was born in a Muslim family. His father was a farmer.
  • He completed his graduation from Gurukul kangri University of Haridwar.
  • His passion for the acting started when he watched the performances of the people who performed in the village carnivals and festivals. At that time the festivals were the main source of entertainment for the villagers. He was fascinated by the fact that how the performances united all the villagers and made them cry,laugh together.
  • After graduation he started his career as a chemist in a petrochemical company. But he was not satisfied with the job and soon came to Delhi. In Delhi, he took a job of watchman and started watching plays. He took admission in the "The national school of drama ". In 1996, he completed his course in drama.
